Under the Research Executive Agency which is the funding body for research and innovation which manages EU research grants - funds have been received for the POLLINS project. This is a collaborative project between INETEC, CERTH, ATIC, ROBO, AGPYME, SEPVE, TNDT, LCCS, OIKON, NOVOCAPTIS, I&T, CITY, ICCS and CETRI.
The Pollins project aims to develop a semi-autonomous, remotely controlled robotic system which will deploy three novel (and an existing modified) sensors for the assessment of soil quality and site characterization. The Pollins system will have the capacity to shorten the time required for analysis, to improve results by at least 70% as well as provide more efficient data for potential contamination.
